We are Michael Saddekni and Leah Pogwizd-Saddekni — partners in music and in life. We met through our shared love of jazz, and have been collaborating together for over 6 years as musicians, educators, and creative partners in Birmingham, Alabama. From performances and workshops to arranging, composing, and producing media, we bring a shared spirit of artistry and community to everything we do.Michael Saddekni
A saxophonist, rapper, vocalist, composer, and arranger, Michael Saddekni holds a Bachelor's and Master's in Jazz Studies and is currently a jazz professor at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). His work blends jazz, funk, hip hop, and video game music, creating performances and educational projects that are dynamic, accessible, and deeply rooted in musical tradition.Leah Pogwizd-Saddekni
Dr. Leah Pogwizd-Saddekni holds a Bachelor's in Jazz Studies, as well as a Master's and Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology. An experienced performer on upright bass, electric bass, and u-bass, Leah is also an accomplished educator, organizer, and video editor. She currently focuses on creative collaboration, project management, and performance while raising the couple's toddler.
